U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., reintroduced three pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen consumer data privacy protections. The proposed DATA Privacy Act would empower consumers to request the deletion of their data held by platforms and allow them to opt out of data collection. The Promoting Digital Privacy Technologies Act would incentivize research into privacy-enhancing technologies. The Internet App ID Act would require app developers to disclose if it was either physically developed or if it stores data it collected in China.
